FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Specific answers to common questions about CYCD OS, the strategy engine, and how the platform works.

Is CYCD OS financial advice?+
No. CYCD OS is a financial operating system — software that generates deterministic strategy analysis from structured data. It is not a registered investment advisor and does not provide personalized financial advice. If you have an advisor, CYCD OS is designed to work alongside them.
How is this different from a loan repayment calculator?+
Calculators compute a single number given a fixed set of inputs. CYCD OS generates every viable strategy, scores each one across five dimensions, identifies the optimal path given your priorities, and monitors that path over time. It is a system, not a tool.
Does CYCD OS replace my financial advisor?+
No. CYCD OS provides the computational infrastructure that most advisory practices lack for student loan strategy. Advisors use CYCD OS to generate, review, and publish recommendations — with a complete audit trail and client-facing output. It makes advisory more rigorous, not unnecessary.
What data do I need to provide?+
CYCD OS requires: current income (individual and household), total loan balance by type (federal/private), employment sector and employer type, filing status, family size, and any specific professional goals (PSLF intent, ownership timelines, etc.). The intake is structured and takes 10–15 minutes.
How does the strategy engine work?+
The engine takes your structured intake data, generates every viable repayment path for your profile, and scores each one across five dimensions: lifetime cost, monthly cash flow, forgiveness probability, tax bomb exposure, and risk level. The recommendation is derived from this scoring matrix. The logic is deterministic and fully transparent.
What is drift detection?+
Drift detection monitors your active strategy against live signals — income changes, employment shifts, IDR recertification events, policy updates. When conditions diverge from the strategy's assumptions, the system categorizes the drift (normal, moderate, high, critical) and surfaces a re-evaluation recommendation. You are never operating on a stale strategy without knowing it.
Does CYCD OS support PSLF?+
Yes. PSLF is modeled as a first-class strategy path. CYCD OS evaluates your employer type, qualifying payment progress, estimated forgiven balance, and PSLF completion probability. It scores PSLF against every non-PSLF alternative so you can see the full tradeoff, not just whether you qualify.
What professions does CYCD OS support?+
CYCD OS currently focuses on veterinarians, physicians, dentists, lawyers, and pharmacists — high-debt professionals with complex repayment decisions. The platform is designed to expand to additional professions.
How current is the strategy engine?+
CYCD OS reflects current federal repayment program rules, including SAVE, PAYE, IBR, and ICR. The platform is updated when program rules change. Drift detection flags cases where policy changes affect an active strategy.
Can I model multiple scenarios?+
Yes. CYCD OS includes a scenario simulation tool that re-runs the full strategy engine with modified inputs. You can model different income trajectories, employment changes, refinancing decisions, or family size adjustments — and see how each change affects the full scoring matrix.
What does the lifecycle timeline show?+
The lifecycle timeline is a structured sequence of milestones derived from your active strategy: IDR recertification windows, PSLF submission dates, forgiveness eligibility dates, income verification deadlines, and ownership or career transition checkpoints. It updates dynamically as conditions change.
How do I get started?+
Access CYCD OS at app.clearyourcollegedebt.com. Complete the structured intake (10–15 minutes). The system generates your strategy set and recommendation. If your workspace includes an advisor, they will review and publish a final recommendation. You can also access all scoring and analysis directly.
